Features:

In partnership with the Tennessee Shelby County Public Health Department, we designed and fabricated a mobile medical clinic to help aid and elevate Shelby County’s ability to serve the community. The mobile clinic would strengthen their goals of giving mothers and families aid and resources in the community with immunizations, supplemental food program information, breastfeeding support, as well as general health exams. With a mobile platform, they are able to overcome geographic and economic boundaries that keep people from coming to a brick-and-mortar building.

Exterior Features

On the exterior, many notable features elevate this vehicle, making it functional in rural areas or even at events. This vehicle is wrapped with exterior graphics, creating a moving billboard to help spread awareness and make the vehicle recognizable and approachable as a mobile medical vehicle.

q Rivetless seamless design for a polished, modern appearance

q Generator mounted on street side providing power to the vehicle when in operation in areas without power capabilities

q Shore cord inlet near generator to provide power to the vehicle via shore cord plug

q Custom fabricated exterior storage boxes built into skirting of vehicle

q Wheelchair lift access door in rear providing flexibility and helping to work towards more accessibility

Interior Features

This vehicle’s interior is compact but functional, allowing for multiple stations and separation from the front and rear of the vehicle. This creates a seamless workflow with the privacy of a rear exam room to keep patients confident that, despite the mobile platform, all their information is still being kept confidential.

Front Room

q Open pass-through into cab, covered by a privacy curtain when the vehicle is in use to keep passersby from seeing inside the vehicle through the front windshield

q Intake area on curbside behind door with work counter, overhead storage, and patient chair that is also a third riding chair

q Street side phlebotomy chair next to a standing workstation with overhead storage; this station is for getting vitals and bloodwork

q Bathroom on street side just before rear room; bathroom has a toilet, sink, soap and paper towel dispensers, trash can under counter, and specimen pass-through behind toilet connecting to standing counter workstation

Rear Exam Room

q Curb side counter with overhead storage

q Eye wash station hung on wall

q Under-counter medical refrigerator able to keep samples and vaccines at needed temperature reliably

q Wheelchair lift in rear of vehicle to help work towards ADA goals

q Fully medical bed on street side with diagnostic board on wall behind for easy preliminary exams

Despite being in a mobile platform, this vehicle is still able to perform several services, with the addition of being able to help overcome barriers that keep people from going into a brick-and-mortar building. This addition to Shelby County helps the Public Health Department in its continued goals of spreading awareness and providing aid and will be an important tool for the department.
