In collaboration with the Guam Police Department, we developed a DUI vehicle specifically designed for operation on the island. This vehicle was designed with the island’s unique environment in mind, including an interior constructed entirely without wood.
Exterior Features
The van is designed to provide optimal visibility on the road and is equipped with an emergency light and siren package. It is built to function effectively in the field, even when power sources are unavailable, as it operates efficiently from a generator system. Key features include:
Generator enclosure located behind the driver-side door, with a shore power inlet nearby for supplemental power
A roof-mounted air conditioning unit to maintain a comfortable working climate inside
A custom-fabricated side entry step
A solar panel mounted on the roof that serves as a battery maintainer to keep batteries charged and extend their lifespan
A Whelen scene light and an emergency lights/sound package
Interior Features
The interior of the van is optimized prioritizing officer comfort and safety, creating a contained area to do blood and breath testing.
Front Test Area
A counter situated over the generator, with an electrical panel mounted above
An overhead aluminum cabinet located across the street side of the van
A bulkhead wall in the center of the van
A work area for officers against the wall, featuring a monitor hung on the bulkhead
A custom-made blood draw bench, which includes a heavy drop-down arm
